God has richly blessed Evangel by increasing the number of people participating in all areas of our ministry. As a result, for the first time in nearly 30 years, Evangel will embark on a building project. The new addition to our building will provide college students and families with much needed new space for instruction, fellowship and worship and alleviate the overcrowding we have experienced over the last several years. We will be better able to minister to and disciple those who already attend Evangel as well as increase our outreach to our community.

The building expansion will primarily provide space for Evangel's Sunday School program and will allow all classes to meet in the church building. Currently the college class meets in Wadsworth Hall and our High School class meets at the Super 8 Motel. In addition, our six Adult Fellowship groups currently fill the auditorium on Sunday mornings.

Social ministries will be greatly improved by expanding our space for fellowship and meetings. An attractive, highly visible, and inviting foyer, new nursery and restrooms will make new attenders feel more welcome and comfortable. Furthermore, we will be able to expand our current sanctuary alleviating the overcrowding we are currently experiencing, thus enhancing our worship services.

Evangel also opens its doors to community groups during the week. It is not uncommon to have up to 3 groups meeting at once in our building. This can be uncomfortable in the current setting, especially for recovery groups who desire some privacy.

The new addition will be built off of the back of the current building. The design is based on ministry needs and includes three levels, two above ground and the basement level. The addition will be 42x42 feet, providing 5,200 square feet of new space. The estimated cost is $450,000.

A major feature is a glass entry that will be visible from the street. An enlarged foyer will make access to the sanctuary much easier and will be handicapped accessible. Although the sanctuary will be enlarged slightly, classrooms for high school, college students, and adults will make up a major portion of the addition. It will also house multi-purpose space and the church offices. A new nursery will be built on the street level.

This project also includes upgrades to the existing structure including a new roof, ventilation, heating, and parking lot improvements.

As the Lord has increased the number of people at Evangel, His leading to increase the physical space needed to accommodate this blessing has been strongly felt. We are excited to see God at work in this project as we join Him to make room for His Word to flourish.
